There are 17 species of penguins, with the Emperor Penguin being the tallest at 1.1 metres tall. They have a blue-grey back and a white belly with a distinctive yellow tinge on it. Many penguins mate for life, but the Emperor Penguin is one of the few that doesn't. They typically have one mate per year, but still take a fatherly role with their offspring.
